Phuket buses: town, beaches and Old Town

phuket

Choose the right Phuket bus with separate routes, terminals and fares, operator sources, and a plan for the return trip.

An airport-to-town bus, a coastal bus and a short Old Town ride serve different journeys. Start with your destination address, then choose the operator and the timetable for the correct direction. This reduces the chance of reaching the wrong terminal or mistaking a departure from the terminus for the time at your stop.

1. Choose the journey, not just the word “bus”

- Airport → Phuket Town: open the Airport Bus 8411 timetable https://www.airportbusphuket.com/time-table/. Its town terminus is Bus Terminal 1. - Airport → Patong, Karon, Kata or Rawai: open the PKSB coastal service https://phuketsmartbus.com/timetable/. Your return journey needs the opposite-direction table. - Town → Patong: PKSB currently labels its town route Bus Terminal 2 → Phuket Town → Patong Beach. Airport Bus 8411 identifies its town terminus as Bus Terminal 1. Do not assume these are the same transfer point; confirm the specific boarding location with the operator before travelling. - A short Old Town trip: check PKSB Dragon Line and municipal notices separately. Similar names do not establish a shared timetable.

2. Keep the town bus and the beach bus separate

Airport Bus 8411 and coastal PKSB are different options. The Airport Bus FAQ does not describe its service as a direct bus to Patong, Karon or Kata. Reaching your exact address from the town terminus may involve another ride or a walk.

The Airport Bus FAQ https://www.airportbusphuket.com/faqs/ identifies its airport boarding point by the Domestic Terminal exit and an orange bus. After an international arrival, ask airport staff for the current way there. Show the driver your destination address rather than only a district name before boarding.

3. Allow for each fare separately

When checked, the PKSB payment page https://phuketsmartbus.com/payment/ listed THB 100 for its coastal line, THB 50 for town–Patong and free travel on Dragon Line. The Airport Bus FAQ listed THB 100 for airport–town travel.

These are published references for separate rides. Do not assume a through ticket or include a taxi to the stop in those amounts. PKSB lists cash, contactless cards and QR/PromptPay through a Thai banking app. This does not confirm that your particular card or app will work; have a fallback payment method. The Airport Bus FAQ describes buying from the ticket collector without an advance reservation; keep the ticket.

4. Plan the return at the same time as the outward trip

Open both directions, identify your own stop and save the last suitable return departure. For a flight, allow time for the road journey and airport procedures; a timetable is not a guarantee of reaching check-in.

Airport Bus’s official FAQ and full timetable disagree on the last departures. Open the table for your direction https://www.airportbusphuket.com/time-table/ and confirm a late or disputed service with the operator. The FAQ answer alone does not confirm a departure for this evening.

In PKSB tracking https://phuketsmartbus.com/tracking, check the selected line. If no marker appears, the map alone does not establish that a service has been cancelled; seek another confirmation.

5. The municipal EV notice has an end date

The municipal announcement dated 9 October https://radiophuket.prd.go.th/th/content/category/detail/id/9/iid/549677 applies only to 8–18 October 2026: Dragon Square, 13:00–19:00, departures every 30 minutes. All these times are local Phuket time, Asia/Bangkok, UTC+7.

19 October and later require a new confirmation; an extension, cancellation or return to an earlier schedule has not been established. Do not substitute the Dragon Line timetable. The source must be checked again on 19 October; today’s review does not complete that future check.

6. Save a short journey plan

Before leaving, note four items: boarding point → direction → destination stop → return. For a connection, add the second boarding point and a time buffer. Prepare this question: “Is this the right stop and next bus for my address today, and where do I board for the return?”
